The amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for processing emotions, triggers the "fight or flight" response, flooding the body with stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. How the 3-Step Rewind Technique Works
The 3-Step Rewind Technique is a powerful and gentle approach grounded in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). It works by guiding individuals through a process of revisiting the traumatic memory in a safe, dissociated state, allowing the brain to reprocess the memory and store it properly. Here's how it works:
Relaxation and Safe Recall: In a deeply relaxed state, you are guided to imagine watching the event as if on a movie screen, viewing the from a safe distance. This dissociation reduces the emotional intensity of the memory.
Rewinding the Memory: You are then guided to "rewind" the memory, playing it backward in your mind. This unusual and creative approach helps the brain to reprocess the memory in a new, non-threatening way.
Reinforcement and Future Planning: Finally, I'll lead you through a process of reinforcing your new, calmer response to the memory and envisioning the future feelings you desire
